2022 Surfside Association Fishing Contest

 

Annual Contest Period: Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day.

 

Location: Casting from the beach using lures - not live bait, anywhere from Nobadeer to Point ‘O Breakers

 

Call in or email your fishing results to Ned Fawcett at 508-325-4312 or ecfawcett@aol.com.  Remember, the contest is based on the honor system and is open to all members, all of their family members, and guests.  Fish must be weighed by scale.

 

Prizes awarded for the following categories:

 

  • Largest Bluefish (weight in lbs.)

  • Largest Striped Bass (length in inches)

  • Most number of fish caught in 24 hour period.

  • Most unbelievable catch (unique & remarkable)  

 

2022 Surfside Association Golf Tournament - 9-hole Scramble

Daffodil Festival Weekend

Last weekend of April every year

 

Organized and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the Annual Daffodil Festival is a full-scale celebration of winter’s thaw, joyous for both islanders and visitors alike. The Daffodil Festival’s grand event held on Saturday is the Annual Antique Car Parade, featuring over 100 daffodil-bedecked vintage cars (pre-registration necessary for participation). Other festival highlights include the Nantucket Garden Club’s Annual Daffodil Show, Children’s Daffodil Parade, Daffy Hat Pageant, Daffodil Dog Parade and even a Daffodil 5K Race.

Figawi Race Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend every year

 

The Annual Figawi Race Weekend is recognized as a top sailing event not only on the east coast but is known nationally as well as internationally. Figawi Race Weekend kicks off the the Cape Cod and Nantucket summer season. Entries include sailors from several states 240+ boats (including 30 power boats) and over 3,000 sailors and visitors, as well as locals, attend this event.

Fourth of July Events

 

There area lot of things happening on Nantucket for Fourth of July, from family BBQ's, a day on island beaches, Town sponsored fireworks, and the waterfight on Main Street that includes dualing fire trucks, face painting, watermelon eating, kids bike parade and more.

Boston Pops to benefit Nantucket Cottage Hospital

Second Saturday of August every year

Nantucket Race Week

August each year

Nantucket Race Week is eight days of regattas, awards ceremonies, and parties. Race Week is hosted by Nantucket Yacht Club and Great Harbor Yacht Club to benefit Nantucket Community Sailing, and is the primary fund-raising event of the year for Nantucket Community Sailing.

Opera House Cup Race

August each year on the final day of Race Week

 

The Opera House Cup Regatta was the first all-wooden, single-hulled classic boat regatta on the East Coast, and attracts some of the finest sailboats in the country.

Nantucket Conservation Foundation's Annual Cranberry Festival

Columbus Day Weekend

Come out to the Festival grounds and watch the berries being harvested, learn about the history of cranberry farming on Nantucket, participate in the family activities or just kick back and enjoy the music and the spectacular autumn scenery of one of the most unique and beautiful places on our Island.  Don't forget to bring home a pound, or two, of Nantucket Cranberries for the Holidays!
